Today, let’s talk about a small detail on my tool belt that makes a huge difference in daily job site efficiency.I’m right-handed, but I always mount my tape measure (convex) on the LEFT side of my belt using Tajima’s SEF quick-release holder. Why?If you mount it on the right side, when you pull it out with your right hand, the tape hook points backwards. You have to flip/rotate your wrist 180 degrees just to pull the tape forward. That rotation wastes about 1 second every single time.By keeping it on the left side, I can unclip it with my left hand, pass it to my right, or pull the tape straight forward toward the target—zero wrist rotation, zero wasted motion. When you measure hundreds of times a day, saving 1 second each time saves serious time and energy.…Well, to be honest with you: when I have to pull the tape out to the RIGHT side, I still end up flipping my wrist anyway! 😂 No system is 100% perfect for every angle, but optimizing for the most common movement is what keeps my workflow smooth.Shaving off milliseconds is how Japanese craftsmen keep their pace fast and precise.
